Sergeant Lucas T. Pyeatt

Lucas Todd Pyeatt was born in Suffolk, England on March 5th, 1986 to parents Lon Scott and Cynthia Louise Pyeatt. Growing up, Sgt Pyeatt was an avid Civil War historian, accomplished musician, Eagle Scout, and active member in his church and community.

 

In his service, Sgt Pyeatt was an outstanding Marine, and exemplified the qualities and values of the Marine Corps. Deployed on January 19th, 2011 with the 2nd Radio Battalion, II MHG (1 MHG, I MEH Forward), Sgt Pyeatt was assigned to FOB Zeebrugee in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. On February 5th, 2011, just a few weeks before his 25th birthday, Sgt Pyett was killed in action during an IED attack.

 

A visitation and funeral were held for Sgt. Pyeatt in his hometown of West Chester, Ohio. As was his wish, Sgt. Pyeatt was interred at Arlington National Cemetery on February 28th, 2011. During his service, Sgt Pyeatt was awarded the Director of National Intelligence Medal of Valor, Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Sea Services Ribbon, Iraq/Afghanistan Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Ribbon. He was also added to the National Security Agency Memorial Wall.
