Citizenship in the Nation Merit Badge

Citizenship in the Nation is another badge that requires Scouts do a lot of work.  As with the American Heritage badge, the MCRD Museum assists Scouts in completing badge requirements they can not accomplish on their own.  A merit badge counselor is available at the Museum.  

The MCRD Museum helps Scouts fulfill the following requirements for the Citizenship in the Nation merit badge:

2a. Visit a place that is on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP)
 - The MCRD Museum and many buildings on MCRD are on the National Register of Historic Places

2c. Tour a Federal Facility
-  MCRD is a Federal Facility

In order for the Merit Badge Counselor to sign off on a Scout's blue card, the Scout must complete the remaining requirements for the badge.  We strongly recommend that a parent or troop leader check a Scout's work before submitting it to the Merit Badge Counselor.   Keep in mind that for requirements 4d and 4e, the Scout must describe how life in the United States would be different without each amendment of the Constitution.  Simply listing the amendment or writing a paragraph that talks about the amendments in general does not complete the requirement.
