Mr. Bob Ross is currently serving as the Foundation Board Immediate Past President. He has been a member of the Foundation for 6 years and has served as a Board member since 2014. Bob is Marine Vietnam veteran and retired as a MSgt Telecommunications Chief.
In his civilian positions, Bob was the Site Development Manager for PacTel Cellular (now Verizon Wireless), installed and turned up the first 5 Cell sites in San Diego County. Bob continued his career in Cellular as the VP of Operations for JNB Telecom, JNB designed and built over 9,000 cell sites and 7 switching facilities across the country for AT&T, NEXTEL, SPINT, T-Mobile, and Verizon. After his retirement in 2011, he joined the Center for Municipal Solutions where he was the Telecommunications Consultant for the Western US.
Bob enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1967 and after training and initial stateside assignments was assigned to 1st FSR in Vietnam where he was immediately sent to the 26th Marines in Khe Sahn in January 1968. After returning from Vietnam, Bob held varied communications and other billets rising to the rank of MSgt. Of note in his career was his expertise in the development, design, and construction of SCIFs and MILCON Communications projects for the Marine Corps and Navy.
Bob earned an MBA/M in Telecommunications. In addition to his volunteer work with the Foundation, Bob, volunteers his time as President of the Camp Pendleton Junior and Men’s Golf Association. He is also a former Planning Commissioner – City of Oceanside, and former Chairman Telecommunications Commission, City of Oceanside.
